Project Description
2019 Vital Lines
Vital Lines is a temporary art installation created for the Leighton Art Centre near Calgary in collaboration with the artist Patricia Lortie. Together, we designed and constructed an 18.28-metre wooden structure using timber sourced from the local area. A tapestry of wishes was woven around this framework: for six months, visitors were invited to write down their wishes, creating a collective, living artwork on the border between art and nature.
A striking pink line stretched across the hillside, visible from afar by day and providing a playground for local wildlife by night. More than 2,000 people took part in this immersive experience. It was a real honour to work with Patricia Lortie on this meaningful project.
