Project Description
2017 Where is Home?
Where is Home? is a nine-minute video installation exploring questions of identity, memory and belonging through time-lapse photography and multilingual interviews. It follows a symbolic open door through significant locations in Italy, Belgium, France and Canada, including Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny, the Vimy Ridge Memorial, the Banff Centre and a beach in British Columbia.
The soundtrack features the voices of people encountered during filming, each reflecting on the meaning of ‘home’ in their own language: English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. These personal accounts — sometimes intimate, sometimes unexpected — form a layered audio landscape that highlights the universal and complex nature of our connection to place.
Presented at the Art Point Gallery in Calgary, this project invites viewers to contemplate their own sense of home as they navigate visual and emotional landscapes that transcend borders.
