Project Description

Painting Alberta is the first publication in a planned trilogy by visual artist Sabine Lecorre-Moore. This beautifully illustrated book features a curated selection of 120 miniature acrylic paintings drawn from a larger body of 360 works created over several years. Drawing on archival and contemporary photographs from the 1880s to the present day, each painting provides an insight into Alberta’s landscapes, people and history.

Rooted in a profound connection to place and memory, Painting Alberta encourages readers to contemplate the province’s evolving cultural and geographical identity. The project was completed during Lecorre-Moore’s 2022 artist residency at the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre (KOAC) and exhibited at the Okotoks Art Gallery in autumn 2024. Whether you’re passionate about art, history or Alberta itself, this book offers an intimate and poetic view of the land, one brushstroke at a time.
