Project Description

2021 International Contemporary Art Symposium

In August 2021, I was selected, alongside eleven other artists, for the 39th International Contemporary Art Symposium of Baie-Saint-Paul, Québec However, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, I was unable to travel to Quebec, so I reimagined the residency from Alberta. Over the course of 20 days, I toured the province with a mobile exhibition of Painting Alberta, comprising 360 miniature landscapes based on historical and contemporary photographs. Each day, I connected virtually with the Quebec audience and fellow artists via Zoom, sharing stories, artwork and conversations in real time. This experience allowed me to present my work remotely and sparked meaningful exchanges between Alberta residents and the public in Baie-Saint-Paul, bringing our two provinces closer together through art and dialogue.
